February Branch Meeting and Program
Being a Muslim Woman in Northern Virginia
Speaker: Mrs. Wafika Albani
Fairfax County Public Schools Translator and Parent Liaison
Feb. 20, 9:30 a.m. at the McLean Community Center
For over 20 years in the United States, Mrs. Albani has strived to bridge the
language and cultural barriers between people. Since 2005, she has been an
Arabic Parent Liaison, Interpreter, Translator, Tutor, Registrar and Substitute
Teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. She is the mother of two daughters who
have been in FCPS. She has also been a Medical Translator and Interpreter
working with surgeons, doctors, nurses and patients to facilitate effective
communication between medical staffs and Arab patients. Her subject on Saturday
will be about navigating the culture in northern Virginia as a Muslim woman and
bringing up two daughters in American culture.
