39th Annual Used Book Sale, September 19-21, 2008, a great success!
Crowds
flocked to buy books at the AAUW Used Book Sale held at the McLean Community
Center, September 19, 20, and 21, 2008. The McLean Area Branch AAUW wants to
thank all who came out on the beautiful autumn days to support the sale. Many
customers have been coming year after year.
The success of this year’s sale will allow the branch to provide more than $30,000 for graduate fellowships and grants to women (through the Educational Foundation of the national AAUW), and to local colleges for undergraduate scholarships for women. The success of this annual book sale makes the McLean Area Branch one of the top contributors nation-wide to the educational program of AAUW.
Conducting the annual book sale involves time and effort of all the members of this AAUW branch. Many members put in hours and hours of volunteer time. The sale could not take place without the extensive knowledge and hard work of many individuals.
We would like to thank all the organizations and businesses who support this sale. Most prominently, we are very grateful for the donated space where books are collected and sorted during the summer--
